THE EVERYDAY OUTPATIENT VISIT

From registration
to a return visit.

  1. 01
    Registration

Recognise the patient and open the current visit.

  2. 02
    Consultation

Record the encounter and the next clinical tasks.

  3. 03
    Investigation & prescription

Follow the request into the relevant workflow.

  4. 04
    Return visit

Keep earlier context distinct from the new encounter.

Start at the front desk

A clinic’s first requirement is often straightforward: recognise a returning patient and get the current visit into the right queue. RAKT’s outpatient workflow connects registration and consultation with the shared patient record, rather than treating the queue as a separate list of names.

Demonstrate a new patient and a return visit. Ask how the team searches, identifies the right record, updates missing information, and knows which consultation is current. The people doing reception work should be part of that review.

Record the consultation and send requests

The consultation brings together the encounter’s clinical notes, vitals, investigation requests, prescriptions, and follow-up context. Check that the clinician can finish the consultation record and send requests to the appropriate department.

Use your actual consultation format, with fictional information, in the demonstration. Follow an investigation request and a prescription rather than ending the review when the note has been saved. Clinical documentation and prescribing remain the responsibility of qualified staff.

Add the departments you operate

Some clinics dispense medicines. Others have an in-house laboratory, arrange investigations elsewhere, or operate multiple clinical services. These differences affect the implementation scope and the workflows worth testing.

Explore pharmacy and laboratory separately when they are relevant. Confirm how external results or third-party systems will be handled rather than assuming that an in-house workflow automatically covers every external arrangement. The integration guide helps make those requirements specific.

Set access for each staff role

A small team can still need different access for reception, clinicians, cashiers, and administrators. Shared patient context does not mean each person should have the same ability to alter clinical or financial records.

List the roles you use, including people who cover more than one responsibility. Test a normal day with those accounts during the agreed implementation process. Include absence cover and the handling of corrections so the setup reflects how the clinic works outside an ideal demonstration.

Keep the first rollout focused

Choose a manageable initial journey: registration, consultation, one investigation, one prescription, and the related bill. Agree what must be available on day one and what will be introduced later. A focused first scope is easier for the team to review than a catalogue of every hospital module.

Use the buying and implementation guides to record outstanding questions, migration needs, training, and acceptance criteria. Pricing and availability should be confirmed for your clinic’s scope; this page does not promise a free tier or a fixed setup time.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this topic.

Do we have to use all seven departments?

Plan the scope around the services you operate and confirm the configuration during the walkthrough. A clinic evaluation can begin with the outpatient journey.

Does the website demo create a clinic account?

No. It is a fictional workflow example. The Sign up link opens the application’s actual account-creation screen.

Is RAKT only for clinics?

No. The platform also supports hospital department workflows. The clinic page focuses on a smaller outpatient operating model.
